Estate Assistant Vacancy

North Devon -

Our client is looking for a reliable, trustworthy and highly flexible Royal Marine to work on a busy family estate in North Devon.

Weekly hours will be circa 45 hours, (although complete flexibility is essential) with 2 days off a week, not always at weekends. The package will include 20 days paid holiday and the use of a 3-bedroomed estate cottage.

There will be some late nights and/or early mornings particularly over weekends or holidays when the wider family are at home or when there are guests staying. Christmas, Easter, some week/ends in the summer and shooting weekends can be particularly busy. It is important to note that there are also quieter times when the demands in the house are not so great.

Estate Assistant

This is a busy role where the individual needs to be totally flexible and to be able to lend a hand to any of the following as and when required:

  1. Security – To assist with security, inside of the house, outside in the gardens and around the estate.
  2. Alarm Response – To assist, should the need arise if the alarms are activated in the house.
  3. Keyholder – To be a key holder for the house.
  4. House Maintenance - To include, general maintenance tasks (as directed) in and around the house.
  5. Household Assistance – Assisting the Housekeeper, duties will include window cleaning, replenishing log cupboard/baskets, topping up kindling and laying fires. General help as and when required particularly when the wider family are at home or when there are guests staying.
  6. Driving Duties - This role requires a full, clean UK driving licence, duties will include: dropping off/picking up from dinner parties, airport runs, railway station runs, school runs etc and collecting supplies for the house, farm and gardens.
  7. Estate Vehicle Upkeep – To include, fault reporting, washing/valeting, filling with fuel and checking oil, water and tyres pressures etc.
  8. Estate Machinery Upkeep – To include, fault reporting, minor maintenance, cleaning after use and filling with fuel etc.
  9. Garden Assistance – Assisting the Gardener, duties will include mowing lawns, weeding, digging flower/vegetable beds (as directed), strimming, chopping and stacking of logs, keeping the yard tidy and sweeping the terraces.
  10. Swimming Pool – Duties will include cleaning of the pool and pool house, chemical dosing and keeping the boiler running.
  11. Tennis Courts – Duties will include: surface vacuuming, moss/algae treatment and daily net tensioning/slackening.
  12. Dogs -  Duties will include: exercising and feeding (particularly when the family is away), monitoring health/behaviour and cleaning out of the kennels,
  13. Horses – Duties will include: feeding, monitoring health/behaviour, mucking out and turning out, particularly when the family is away.
