Op Frankton Challenge 2019

Saturday 7th December, 2019 until Thursday 19th December, 2019

Raising funds in Honour of the 'Cockleshell Heroes

This isn’t a challenge for the faint hearted! OP FRANKTON was a daring commando raid on ships in the Nazi German occupied French port of Bordeaux in southwest France during the Second World War. The raid was carried out by a small unit of Royal Marines known as the Royal Marines Boom Patrol Detachment. For the full details click here.

The Commandos covered an incredible distance of 176 miles over 11 days; 76 miles in two man Kayaks and 100 miles on foot whilst escaping. Only two teams made it to the objective.

To Honour this, Virtual Military Challenges has created a Virtual OP FRANKTON Challenge to raise funds for RMA - The Royal Marines Charity and the Special Boat Service Association.
