Last Friday, 16th June, saw the 2017 Directors’ Challenge take place at Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, Lympstone. This unique annual event provides the opportunity for Business Leaders and Teams to test their resolve on the Royal Marines’ Infamous Endurance and Assault Courses.
After being fitted out with brilliantly white t-shirts and sturdy boots, participants were welcomed by CTCRM Commandant, Colonel Mike Tanner. The event was also supported by some of the beneficiaries of the Charity, including Lee (Frank) Spencer, Mark Ormrod, Jon White, Danny Claricoates and Becky Rogers. In a touching moment, Lee Spencer was presented with his Corps leaving present, by trustee of the Charity, Jamie Zuppinger.
Following a quick run through of the bottom field, the teams were whisked up to Woodbury common, to complete the infamous endurance course. They were joined by Deputy Commandant General, Royal Marines Brigadier Richard Spencer, as he accompanied the teams around the course, where they completed the sheep dip, stream wade and all of the other gifts the course has to offer.
A quick water break, and the teams were back on their way to CTCRM to undertake the bottom field, with some brilliant times being recorded as they scaled the 12ft wall, crossed the monkey bars and made their way through the tunnels. The hard-working winners were presented with a commemorative Commando Dagger, with the winners being as follows:
