The Corps Family Weekend 2018 – A coming together of the #RMfamily
Following on from the success of the inaugural event last year, the Corps Families Weekend returned last weekend with fun for all the family.
Last year’s event was the first since the amalgamation of the RMA Reunion Weekend and the CTCRM Families Day. There were two primary reasons for this: firstly to try and help the RMA achieve its evolutionary aim of becoming the central pillar of the Corps Family; secondly to reduce the number of working weekends for busy CTCRM staff.
With a perfect day’s weather, the sun shone over the many stalls, rides and attractions laid out across the Drill Shed and Parade Ground. Doughnuts, hot dogs, and burgers were just some of the foods on offer, with visitors also having the opportunity to kit themselves out in the official Royal Marines tartan as well as the latest merchandise from the Royal Marines Shop.
Stunning phot - and a stunning view of the bottom field, seldom appreciated by those running around it at the time. Btw : thank you for supporting our Corps families weekend, I know kids (big and small) will love learning about our latest helos. Thank you. https://t.co/sv1S4i0Yl0
Kids also enjoyed taking on an Inflatable Assault Course, various sports challenge and Go-Karts, whilst checking out the other attractions including the charity village and some pretty hoofing face painting!
On Sunday the traditional RMA Parade paid tribute to former comrades and this year’s march-past was spiced up by the RMA Riders parading their standard on wheels ahead of a number of bikes.
Keep an eye out on our social media channels and website to learn more about next year’s event.
