An Interview with Mark Ormrod and Major Scotty Mills
In the first of a series of upcoming interviews and podcasts coming this year, Mark sits down in this edition with Major Scotty Mills, Inspector of Physical Training Royal Marines.
The subject for this edition focuses on the Virginia Gauntlet II Sports Tour, which will see 250 Royal Marines travel to America to compete in a two-week challenge, promoting the joint working relationship which has been effectively deployed in combat.
By invitation of the United States Marine Corps, between April 15th and 29th 2019, Exercise Virginia Gauntlet II will take place on the East Coast of the US at the home of the US Marine Corps Quantico.
RMA – The Royal Marines Charity is proud to be the principal supporter of Virginia Gauntlet II. Virginia Gauntlet II will raise the profile of Team Sport within the Royal Marines, focusing on improving morale and retention. Nineteen sports are represented and participants drawn from all ranks within the Royal Marines Corps focusing on junior Marines.
The tour has also been kindly supported by sponsors in the form of the RN&RM Sports Lottery, Royal British Legion, Patron Capital and Beds & Bars.

REORG Commando Beach Assault is a Functional Fitness team competition based on Orcombe Point Beach, Exmouth. The event is open to both males and females, each team must consist of 4 athletes and must have at least 1 of each sex. The competition will be a full day, consisting of qualifying workouts, followed by the top 10 teams going through to compete in the finals in the afternoon. The winning team will be presented with the REORG trophy and will be crowned champions.
